Champions League Conjecture: Robustness of the Underdogs

All the 8 Quarter Finalists have arrived in Lisbon. The Champions League has never used a world cup based one match knockout round before. For many teams, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to win the Europe’s most elite competition. But how much robustness  do these teams have in their armoury? Lets find out

Olymique Lyon’s Champions League ambition

Going back to the Thursday game vs Juventus, nobody would have expected Lyon to book tickets to Lisbon. But, with Memphis Depay, Mousa Dembele and Houssem Aouar, you can never write this side off. They face a very unpredictable Manchester City side. And a team like Lyon would seem the favourites to knock the British flag holders out of the Champions League.

RB Lepizig’s Athelti test

The Champions League draw, of Athletico Madrid vs Leipzig would have been more of a contest had Timo Werner finished his season here. Having scored 34% of Leipzig goals this season, the Werner dependence might be the cause of them going in this game ad the underdogs. Julian Naglesman, will set up the strongest tactics, and all Leipzig hopes are onto their mesmerizing manager at the moment.

Atalanta FC, the favouite underogs

Gian Piero Gasperini have taken the Serie A by storm, scoring a massive 98 goals, and winning 9 of their 13 games since the restart. They face a fully equipped PSG team who love to attack as much as Atalanta. Atalanta will miss Ilisic, but so far they have come well ahead without him
