Josep Bartomeu looks confident after signing 7 young players in January

“In January, Barça made a series of bets for the future and since we made them, people are seeing the quality they have,” said Bartomeu. “Pedri, who is a young player with incredible talent. [Francisco] Trincão, who was very unknown, we signed him in January and he is already the best U-21 in Europe. And Matheus Fernandes, who has played little because he has had some problems coming to Spain, already has them in order and has made few appearances but [of a good] quality at Valladolid. And [Miralem] Pjanic is a player who will surely come and integrate [from] the very first minute in the first team. It is very exciting to see Barça B players coming up [too]. From [Ronald] Araujo, a central defender who will surely have a place in the first team, to Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati.”

Messi with Riqui Puig And Ansu Fati
Future looks to be in safe hands with Riqui Puig and Ansu Fati

Barcelona are famous for their incredible academy which has produced without a doubt, some of the best players. Riqui Puig has caught the eye of many and his dribbling style resembles Lionel Messi a lot. A bit more of some game time and maturation will see Puig become a fan favourite.

Ansu Fati will always be remembered for stepping up when Barca were without Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The Catalonian Club will look to hold the young talnet for many more years to come.

Quique Setien has become a subject of speculation in the recent weeks since loosing out the La Liga to arch rivals Real Madrid.

Asked if all three latter-mentioned young stars will form part of coach Quique Setien’s plans, Bartomeu answered: “For these players, due to their evolution and current training, they have to be in the first team. I think it is good news for Barcelona that the B team is again bringing players to the first team. La Masia does a sometimes little-known job, but there are very good players like [Alex] Collado, like Monchu, who have a very good future [too].”

Bartomeu added that he is in close contact with Xavi, who is currently in Qatar and a fan favourite to take the job at the Catalonian club. F.C. Barcelona club president did acknowledge the likelihood of Xavi taking the job one day, but for the next season, Quique Setien looks to be in charge.

Barca know that Xavi will eventually take up the job, and as for Setien, he has a lot riding on the teams performance in the champions league. The understood reason for the fans becoming impatient is that they want to see Xavi coach Messi. For now, Barca must keep patient and be positive as the future looks sunny with 7 new signings.
